Shot straight to pro res HQ in film mode – To LUT or not to LUT?
Hi all,
Working with footage that looks flat as it was shot in film mode on the black magic camera which has been baked straight to pro res HQ.
As this isn’t RAW and therefore not shot in log my question is whether i should be applying a LUT to the rather flat looking pro res.
In testing a LUT does certainly improve the look of the footage but I want to make sure that this is the correct workflow outside of working in RAW with this type of file.

A LUT is just a saved profile of image treatment. If the LUT looks how you want, and keeps all your video levels in the correct range, use it.
