    Hello,

I am having a problem with outputting to my DV camera. I shot with Varicam and captured via 1200A deck. My easy setup was DVCPROHD – 720p24. Now when I edit I change my video output/device control to Firewire DV NTSC. The problem is that the video will not play. The sound plays and I get a still image but the video stands still on firewire output. Is this because the camera is 29.97?

Do I need to edit in a 23.98 NTSC timbase, if so how do I maintain the 1.85 aspect ratio? When I edit in a NTSC timebase the image is squeezed.

    Thanks.

You are still working with an HD signal…DVCPRO HD. That signal cannot be output thru a DV (a SD device) and routed to a monitor. The only way to monitor that footage and that timeline is to route thru a 1200HD deck, or route thru a capture card and HD monitor.

To output that as DV, you need to drop it into a DV sequence and render…THEN output.

If your footage in the sequence is squeezed, it means that your project does have the ANAMORPHIC box checked.
