  • Shortcut keys on FCP moving when program crashes

I’m having trouble with one of my Final Cut Pro programs at work. I have some shortcut keys set for different functions and on one computer every time FCP gets locked up and you have to Force Quit out of it then relaunched, the shortcut keys move. I have the Insert and Overwrite set to – and + keys and when the program crashes they move to the 1 and 2 keys. Not sure why this is happening. Other computers at work do not do this when the program crashes. The setting are the same on all them. If anyone could help that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Chris

when FCP crashes it typically reverts all pref settings (e.g. your keyboard shortcuts) to the settings that were in effect the last time the program properly shut down.

The easy solution? Load up fcp, load all your keyboard settings (which, one would assume, you have saved as a custom preset) then quit FCP (before it crashes).

The next time you open the program, everything should be the way you left it.
