Planning for a series of exhibits with 8 video projection areas in 8 rooms, will run from Brightsigns.

The first stop on the tour has small rooms that demand short-throw projectors, with throws from 5ft to 10ft.

The next stop has large rooms that require image widths of 20ft.

The rest of the locations are not spec’d yet.

The client already has 3 short-throw Viewsonics with a range of 5ft to 25ft.

So the question is, since their short-throw projectors can ALSO serve as “normal” throw, is there any detriment to acquire another 5 of those units, and have a kit of only short-throwers?

I used to have a 4WD car, and it was great in the snow and muck. It was also great on a dry highway (but gas-hungry). It would be nice to have a 4WD car again, but the paradigm is too pricey for me right now. OK, maybe not the best metaphor, but it felt good to have one device that is multi-potent.

Most of these projectors have non interchangeable lenses, so you are stuck with short throw.

Most of the ones I’ve seen are pretty cheap, so as long as you can use them for small meetings etc. where the projector can be placed right in front of the screen, that might be a good purchase.
