when you shoot with the varicam at variable frame rates (eg. for slow motion effects) do you need the frame rate converter when you go to capture the footage? if not, what is the frame rate converter used for?

i am using FCP studio 5.1
    quad intel 3.0
    kona 3
    ciprico 2.5 TB 4210 mediavault

our facility is just getting in to high end HD production and i would like to hear what peoples workflow is with HD material? using the varicam, cinealta and viper systems. from acquisition to capture.

    thanks,

    jamie
