Shooting to tape on HVX200
Here is an ignorant question.
Can I shoot in 720 or 1080 when recording to tape? As I understand it, I can’t change the settings unless the media is set to P2 mode. I want to shoot 720p30, but the camera (if I am in the right menu) shows only choices: 480i/60i, 480i/30P, 480i/24P, 480i/30PA.

No. Tape is dv only. For HD, you need P2.

For the price, I am curious if it is a more viable option for weddings. -
It gives long record times, it can record as Quicktime that drops right into FCP (or other NLE)
It has its draw backs, not very mobile, to get the long run times it has to be power (even the long battery only last for about 90 minutes.)
This device has to be fully understood before using it. It is pretty straight forward but you have to set the camera and the device up as stated in the manual or else there are a lot of problems. With P2 cards getting bigger and cheaper seems like there are less people using the FS-100.

I agree. Stick with p2 cards. Renting them is very cheap.
