Recently created a video of a residential neighborhood. Part of the clip was shot into the sun; couldn’t be avoided. Obviously, everything is in shadows with minimal color saturation…almost looks black and white.

Is it possible to apply an effect to lighten/remove shadows to reveal colors? I can accomplish this in a Photoshop image, but still learning basic editing techniques in Premier Pro CS4.
    Thanks,

It’s difficult to say without seeing examples, though there is a possibility. Lay the image over itself. In the effects settings, set the “blend mode” of the top one to “screen” and mess with the opacity setting to see if that works.

There are other possible ways of opening up a shot, though again, it’s not easy to say without seeing some of it. A framegrab, perhaps?

You could use the shadow/highlights and manually adjust in either Photoshop or Premiere Pro ? Shooting into sun directly with digital not a good idea , may effect CMOS sensor?
