We’re shooting a short interview for a client in Germany, and they request 25fps 1080p footage. I’m figuring shooting it 24p will more easily convert to 25p than 30p would(or maybe not). Also, what’s the best way to do the conversion? I’m not sure what editing platform they have in Germany. They’ve asked for Prores if I can provide it, or ‘MP4’ if I can’t, so I’m guessing Final Cut.

I need to ask….why don’t you just shoot it 25fps? That’s what they asked for, right?

I agree with John… which camera are you using that cannot shoot 1080p25?

For some reason if you cannot shoot 25fps,and you know it’s going to be converted, you will get better result shooting over-crank than under… so I’ll choose 30p…

    A Panasonic HMC-150.

However, I actually do have a Canon T3i that will shoot 25fps. Not sure if it has the kind of shutter control to prevent 60MHz flicker, which is their main concern.

But actually, I’ve just heard from a friend in Germany that says he’s sent 24fps footage all the time from shoots in the US, and it works fine.

Typically a 24<->25fps retiming involves a 4% pitch change in the audio…in Premiere Pro, I’d simply modify the clip’s framerate, and you’re done.

    No idea what FCPX does…

How will this be avoided if you shoot 24p? That isn’t 60hz either.
