Shooting drama, two cameras, synching sound
About to shoot a drama using two of these cameras. Only hitch, so far, is this: is there a way to get broadcast quality sound (i.e. with a DAT machine) and get it all in synch WITHOUT having to have someone post-synch everything?

In simple terms no. Think about carefully though. How much would it cost to hire an assistant to sync the dailies? Maybe $300-500 for the week it might take. Surely if you are renting a DAT you can afford that.

Thanks, Noah. This is what we’ve finally realized. Hiring a kid who can post-synch in the wee hours. Did the camera test today. Very excited about our lean, mean system. Gotta admit though — it seems weird that we’ll have a gennie truck, honeywagon, three-banger, hair and make-up truck, wardrobe truck, et al — and these two dinky little cameras (!).
My real ambition with this camera ((I own one) is to write the “perfect screenplay”, i.e. THE feature that can be shot for the cost of tape.
