So, we’re finally in the HD ocean, shooting 720/50P with our HPX500.
Codec is DVCProHD. The sequence setting is 960×720-50P.

The ref movie is 1248×702 – how come??

SD DVD is no more than 720×576. We’re using BitVice, and I’m told they have a great downscaler (as does Purifier from the same company).

But what about the frame rate?? Will the .m2v be 720×576@50P ? Is this compliant with the DVD standard?

    Now – you won’t believe this…

It looks like QuickTime player crops off my video…???

Found a post in a forum that suggested opening the movie in QT 7. And sure, now the movie properties are 1280×720…

Can I trust QT7 that my movie really is 1280×720@50P ? Or is there any other Mac software that can display stream info?

[Niklas Wikman] “is there any other Mac software that can display stream info?”

There is a program I use (on Mac) called VideoSpec. It’s not perfect (e.g. it can’t always determine field order) but I use it with Compressor to develop a consensus on the specs of a given piece of video.
