I’m going to attempt a SFX clip with AE 6.5. An actor will raise his hand as if to gather energy, then slam his hand on the ground. The energy will go across the ground and disintegrate the people attacking him. I want the shock wave on the ground to look real, not computerized. Is there any suggestions before starting this practice project? I’ve thought about using a regular video clip then distorting it in a 3D axis. However, I’ve also thought 3D but would like to keep it in AE because of rendering time. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

is a 3d model thing unless you shoot it as a practical effect. Shock waves come in all types but the xxx plug-in is one place to start. you could make a really big image in photoshop and scale in AE and some blur and camera shake and a few particles.

Thanks… I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m planning on shooting it within the next couple of days. When finished I’ll post it on the net and let you know. Thanks a million.
