Shine from Single Point
I have a still graphic of a map, and I want to use the “shine” plug-in to come only out of one part of the map, not across the entire map. How can I do this? I’m relatively new to AE, so I would really appreciate it if you could give me a step by step. Thanks so much in advance.

I can’t catch your meaning by “one part of the map” very well.But maybe you can try this:
>open the effect window
>check your shining effect
>open the “pre-process” option
>clikc the “use mask”
>adjust the source point & mask radius -
You could also create a mask in photoshop with the area you want to “shine” in white and the rest in black, and then import it into your composition and apply the shine filter to it. The shine effect will only appear where the mask is white and the mask will be otherwise invisible, revealing your map.
