shine effect with plane as an emitter
Hi,
i found a video on the web that looked exactly like the shine effect from trapcode, besides that the light emitter does not seem to be a point, but more a plane, sending straight lightrays.
here´s a link to the video. i´m talking about the plane with the round holes at the beginning.

if you push the source point way off the screen, you’ll start to get that effect. you can do something similar with cc light burst too, and it has a halo alpha option which is a bit more like what these rays look like. you could do something similar with shine, but you’d need to create a different layer for the shine part that looked more like outlined circles rather than filled circles…
for a quick setup, create a new white solid and add the checker board effect (it will be squares instead of circles, but this is a quick demo). make it 3d and rotate the x-axis -90 and position it so it seems like it’s on the floor.
add a new adjustment layer and add shine or cc light burst. adjust y-position of the source point or center property to something like 3000 to move it way off the bottom of the screen.
add a 3d camera and use the camera orbit and tracking tools to move around the scene to see how it reacts…
obviously there is a fair amount of work to still be done, but i think this will get you close…
