  • Shift Delete means having to re-render entire timeline

Posted by Steve Cornell on December 3, 2010 at 1:45 am

It took about 7 hours to render my 60 minute timeline; special effect and plug-ins.

On first preview, I caught a mistake and after “shift deleting a clip” The entire timeline is once again green. There’s got to be a way not to re-render the project again.

Does anybody have any shortcuts or solutions to this kind of issue ?

    thanks.

    Hi Steve,

I’m still a bit new to Final Cut Pro and while I can do what I need to do efficiently, I’m always curious to learn about the “gotchas” as I believe they are called.’

If it’s not too long to type out – what was the problem/solution?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I have 8 layers of video and when shift-deleting, I neglected to select one of those layers. Now FCP thinks there has been a change in the timeline and is asking to re-render EVERYTHING. When shift-deleting, make sure to delete all of the layers in that particular timeframe. Hope that makes sense.

    Steve
