May 3, 2008 at 7:22 pmI’ve done this effect in the past using Trapcode’s Particular, and a shell casing created in 3D Studio Max as the source of the particle. It worked out pretty well, and once it’s motion blurred and color corrected to match the scene it’s very realistic.
Hope that helped!

May 3, 2008 at 7:40 pmThere’s a freebie long magnum cartridge here:

No pistol I know uses that, but for a small fee they sell auto-pistol cartridge footage.

December 29, 2008 at 4:06 pmHey, I have a rather low-ish skill level in 3DS Max and a mediocre-ish skill level in After Effects, but I haven’t really used particular that much. I have seen almost all of Andrew Kramers tutorials and have some of his products.
Anyway, do you think you could make a tutorial of some form on how to do this well.
I could make a shell case that might look like it but I’d get the textures wrong, and probably somehow screw it up.
If you, or anyone could it would help me alot.
Thanks
