I’m trying to simulate text being sucked away from behind, like from a black hole or something. I want to have it start from the center and kinda be sucked away gradually. Shatter seems to be the way to go, and I got it looking pretty good. I’m using a Noise precomp for a custom pattern, set the Gravity to 0, the Strength and Depth of Force 1 to negatives, and animated the Radius. The problem is I can’t seem to stop it from exploding and spreading the pieces out at the end of the animation. I messed with all the other settings, but can’t seem to find which one controls that aspect.

    Thanks.

check the animation presets in 6.5.
also play around with text keyframes.

Experiment with the combination of viscosity and negative force strength until the pieces are sucked in, but don’t emerge again from the other side. The exact settings will vary based on the size (mass) of your pieces.

This will leave you with a clump in the middle, however–but you can use gravity to clean things up. Set the gravity so the pieces fall away from you, and adjust it to taste until the pieces nicely disappear.

    Good luck,
    Brian

Hey thanks Brian. Yeah, Viscosity was what I was overlooking. I think because it’s such a big word I was afraid of it. 🙂
