What exactly do you mean by that- a bit more information about what you are trying to achieve can prove useful. Are you trying to shatter/explode a layer in pieces that you can individually control after? Is it a video/image layer or vector art?

If what you mean is to “shatter” the layers into new, rectangular, layers (that are controllable, there are scripts around that will do it. But as Ted said, a clearer explanation would help…

Yes, i want it to explode it into pieces that i can individually control after (in Newton 2) it would be a vector art but could it work for an image or a video?

As long as it remains a shape or layer, you’ll be able to control it in Newton. So I would think that the Shatter plugin would no longer be a choice, since the pieces are spawned from within the plugin, and don’t become layers.

you can use the Voronoi shatter script to break your footage in any number of pieces, then you can use Mask to Layers script to get a layer per mask, then if newton supports masks you’re ready to go, otherwise you’ll have to create shapes from the masks.

You can use CC Pixel Polly combined with an Andrew Kramer plugin if I’m not mistaken. I don’t have his plugin or script available anymore but I do know that he still hosts the repository on his site!

    Hope this helps!

Voronoi shatter is all you need, then Newton takes care of the splitting into layers 🙂
