Alright i’ve been watching Andrew Kramers Planet Explode tutorial and when i decided to start doing it on a large scale i realized when i have the comp or the footage of the exploding planet, when i zoomt out with a camera or reduce the position on the Z-axis, the shatter stop at the boundaries of the comp, so now i have the shatter peices dissapearing round this square.

I noticed in Kramers tutorials when he does the same, it does not happen to him.
I worked a way around it by pre-composing the footage and putting the shatter effect and an adjustment layer and making the composition huge so that when i use it elsewhere, even if i zoom out or move the camera, you don’t see the square.
But it’s just starting to annoy me not knowing how on the tutorials it doesn’t happen to him.

    Good work.
I haven’t see that one yet but that’s probably exactly how he did it. The Shatter layers are very large and they are in a comp that is larger than the downstream nest container. Shatter behaves slightly differently in a 3d comp because it’s only a 2d representation of Shatter’s 3d space.

You will find many effects and filters stop at the edges of a layer or of a nested comp.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

I posted a response, but I had misread your post. You were already sort of doing what I was suggesting so I erased it.

You could actually control the camera moves in the shatter effect, or link it to an external camera.
