    hi,
i have shatter set up so i can move the camera from behind the shatter object and have it settle to the front. however, there are a few frames where the shatter object kinda inverts on itself, meaning the hole becomes solid and the unshattered part disappears, not to mention the rest of the comp area. here’s the render: https://madbanana.tv/balls08_toolkit/balls_test.mp4

anybody have suggestions to get around this? is there an alternative shatter plugin that does this job better (and won’t break the bank)? thanks!

your link = “404 not found”

based on only what you said, my guess would be somewhere in the shatter, a value(s) is passing zero.

meaning from -100 to + 100 you pass zero
if you did this on a scale value, it inverts the image, I’m guessing it’s possible something similar is happening to your shatter effect.

    hope this helps

Try turning off OpenGL if you have it on. I just created a similar comp with shatter and my poly in Shatter are not backface culling/inverting like yours are.

It might be an issue with your graphics card or driver software.

    Hope this helps.

thanks for the replies guys. i’ll check those out.

i used AE cs3 on a Powermac g5 quad running on 10.4.11 and quicktime 7.4.1 for that render.

i tried to do it on a PC (rotating behind the shatter object), also AE CS3 (although not the same project). it doesn’t happen there! one of those instances where i can’t blame windows 🙂
