  Sharpest lens at 400mm?

  Hi there,

  I am attempting to film birds in flight and am looking to rent a lens that is sharpest at around 400 or 600mm and preferably one that does not need a very expensive tripod that requires insurance. I imagine it will be difficult to find/get the subject in the frame without being able to zoom back so am considering the following options:

  Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 (with or without) 2x Extender
  Canon 200-400mm f/4L with 1.4x Extender
  Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3

  Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
