I’m certainly not a colorist, and this is all way outside my wheelhouse, but it looks as if this plugin will export a Lightroom LUT in the .cube format.
That said, I would be inclined to agree with you and Jeremy that doing video color correction in a photo application is unlikely to be a smooth or rewarding experience. But to each his/her own.

As we’ve said, Lightroom’s Develop Module does NOT support video – and that’s Lightrooms PRIMARY color manipulation space.
Color Finale is a MUCH much much better option.
Heck, even the built in Color Board in X is a much better option (and it’s MUCH easier to use if you don’t have someone around who’s schooled in using scopes and a traditional 3-way color corrector like in CF.)
These approaches also have the benefit of NOT requiring you to export anything. You can work with the video directly in the App designed to work with Video.
It also gets around any need to export standalone scenes.
If you are working with a colorist who needs to isolate scenes, take a look at Primaries Exporter. It will do that – but again I think it’s a poor workflow from what you’ve described.

How does CF do with stills added to a timeline? I plan to edit stills first in aperture and then import them into FC and then continue to edit from there.

Lightroom has actually adapted to be a widely used asset for editing color for video especially DSLR video. It allows for micro adjustments and the ability to create your own LUTs or apply very popular indie LUTs such as vsco. Even red giant and red universe have created in depth workflows for LR and AE. It’s a very modern workflow so I get why many classic editors are shying away. But to obtain those Instagram filters in quality video it’s a good option. I also use LUT Utility which allows me to upload custom made LR luts or VSCO cam LUTs into FCPX.

Thanks Josef. It actually worked really well. It’s not a perfect process so we’re only doing it on shorter projects but we’re happy. We’re very interested in the LUT creation process. They’re shooting with a Nikon DSLR and there aren’t as many pre-built LUTs for it as there are for Black Magic and the like. Can you suggest any resources for creating LUTs in Lightroom and how they work with LUT utility? I only have used the LUT utility with Color Finale. Thanks.

It’s a very broken system and a huge dollar maker for anyone who has the time and creativity to make a solid workflow. But, a workflow that I have used and works… I build my look in LR5 (works in 4) on a photograph, or simply apply a vsco filter to an image. I then take the sharpening and some contrast out, adjust things suitably for video. Then picture instrument has taken a swing with creatinf an application that converts jpg’s color profiles into a .cube file. I then use a program like lut utility or pixel film’s lut loader to upload the cube file and access it in fcpx. It sounds like a lot but it’s a pretty decent workflow.
