Video clips I’ve captured in FCP are requested by an outside editing team working with AVIDs on a Windows platform. There are 80+ clips to be shared and I would rather transfer digital files than hand-off the source tapes. The outside editing team is skeptical about updates/downloads on their systems. Any recommendations for an efficient way to share my already captured files with them? I would appreciate it!

Note: We have tried a simple copy/transfer from the capture scratch file but it does not work. A message about missing components for QuickTime appears. Our tech people tell me that a machine must have a version of Final Cut to view files captured on FCP.

    My set-up:
    2×2 Ghz Dual-Core Intel (2GB 667 MHz)
    Mac (OSX 10.4.10)
    FCP 6.0.1
    HDV (1080i60) capture

    Thank you,
    Holly

Your life will be much easier if you allow each sepearte NLE to capture the footage in it’s native codecs. Once your FCP project and Avid project match (in terms of logging and capturing and fun stuff like timecode) you will be able to swap timelines with the help of automatic duck.

Talk to the folks over there and they will be able to help you.
