Shared font library for Apple network users?
Hi,
We are a production company with a bunch of FCP (v.7) editing suites. We sometimes run into problems with not having the correct fonts installed when moving projects between the editing suites.
The users log in on the machines with their OD network accounts. What is the best way of keeping the computers/user accounts updated with all fonts, preferrably automatically in some way?Thanks,

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure you have to ensure all the fonts are installed on all computers. I don’t think you can, for example, simply load the fonts onto a SAN and expect all computers to read those fonts without actually installing them on the computer.

A font manager would help… There are many freeware app that do this, but there’s no real substitute for every editor keeping track of the fonts they use.
As Rob said, there’s no way to serve up fonts from the main server, every app installed on every workstation installs a different set of fonts, and those fonts are often licensed with the software.

Thank you for your answers. It might be that there is no good solution for this. As for font managers (server side?), what can you recommend?
