  • Shape layer – transform scale – can’t paste from 2 dimensions to 3

    Hi

Just a quick question to see if anyone can solve my boggle!

I had a shape layer that had been animated on the scale property inside it’s own shape transform set (not the layer’s general transforms, but the transforms inside the Contents section).

I was trying to copy scale keyframes from the shape transform to the layer transform, but it wouldn’t let me. It came up with an error message saying it couldn’t “paste from 2 dimensions to 3”.

Does anyone know why this is? Is the data stored differently somehow? I tried using expressions to see if there was a third dimension on either property, but there didn’t seem to be. Also, weirdly, you can link the two values using expressions with no problem at all.

I found a workaround using a linking expression then converting the expression to keyframes, but it still baffled me!

Can anyone tell me know what’s going on here?

    Cheers!

Do you have the 3D layer switch activated on that shape layer by accident?

That’s what I thought too, but nope.

It’s repeatable in a new scene – if you create a shape then try to copy the content/Rectangle/Transform:Rectangle/Scale values to the layer’s normal scale properties then you get the same error message.

AFX must store the values differently for some reason, I was just wondering if anyone could explain it to me!

    Cheers

Cheers for having a bash anyway, Dave, much appreciated! 🙂
