  • Shake 4.1 crashing with Decklink?

For some reason, Shake 4.1 has suddenly gone wacky, and always crashes whenever I try to to a Disk Flipbook with the “videoOutput” switch turned on. It worked with 4.1 for a few weeks, and all of a sudden, crash city.

After many troubleshooting procedures, I reinstalled my entire operating system from scratch. Sadly, the problem still exists.

After doing some searching, it seems that there’s something about the Decklink that Shake 4.1 doesn’t like (or vice versa). There are a bunch of posts on the Apple support site that describe the same problem I’m experiencing.

It doesn’t crash when you do a Disk flipbook with the videoOutput switch off, nor are there any problems with the normal, broadcastMonitor out when simply outputting the Viewer window through the Decklink. It only happens with Disk Flipbooks.

Being that Shake is no longer being developed, it would really suck if this is a Shake problem, and not a Decklink problem. As I mentioned, I upgraded to Shake 4.1, and it seemed to work fine at one point in time, so I’m wondering it there is something with the Decklink drivers that’s causing the problem?

Best way to tell is to have a look at the crash log. Send that to us if possible and we’ll have the engineers look at it.

    Hi Mel,

Can you please try disabling the DeckLink desktop (in the DeckLink PrefPane). Restart your Mac and then see if you can output from a Disk Flipbook without problems? Please let us know either way.
