    Hey all

I have been reading a few posts on this but none of the threads seem to quite achieve what I am after so I wonder if anyone can help.

I have an object, for arguments sake lets call it a cube, now I need a .png rendering out which will keep the background transparent (as I want to add my own background in post), I have also added a plane on which the cube sits, and a light which is casting the cube’s shadow onto the plane. Now here is the tricky bit. I need the cube’s shadow (and all it’s feather edge and alpha) but without the plane.

So basically it just renders the cube and the shadow against a transparent bg .png

    Is this possible?

    Many thanks in advance.

I’m also looking for a solution to this answer. I’ve tried several tutorials. Some on this site that use composite tags, but they do NOT work. I don’t mind fussing with alpha channels in Photoshop, but none isolate the shadow.
