    Hi. I was just wondering if it was normal for a shadow to be going through a solid layer.

    I have not instructed any layers to do so.

    The object casting the shadow, however, is a precomposition, mind you with the “collapse transformation” icon selected.

    Anyways, the shadow is going right through solid layer it’s sitting on and passing down to another layer (where I don’t want it).

    Any advice? I don’t want to turn off shadows for the layers below because they have their own lights and shadows.

    I substituted the precompositioned layer for just a normal layer and the shadow is still going through. So that doesn’t seem to be the issue.

    Put an empty adjustment layer between the layers. That way you re-arrange the rendering order, as it were, and you won’t see a shadow pass through to the layer below.

    Then you just put your other light/layer/shadow casting object below the adjustment layer, etc.

    It’s only work if you’d rather be doing something else…
