    Hello-

In Invigorator Pro 4.3.1, I’ve created a sphere that resides inside (right in the middle) of a slightly larger sphere. I used a transparency map to cut text out of the surface of the outside sphere so you can see through to the inside sphere. I can’t get the outside sphere to cast any shadows onto the inside sphere though – is that a limitation of transparency maps? I have Shadow Casting enabled on the Zaxwerks lights and have also tried using Comp Lights – neither seem to work.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Sean

[spmaloney] “is that a limitation of transparency maps”

Yes! But there is as always a workaround;-)

-Duplicate your transparency map in your ae project window after you are done animating it. (I assume that you are using the layer mapping technique)

-Now open this duplicated comp and reduce the transparency of your text layer.
    -Blur your text to taste
-Apply the duplicate to your inner sphere as a texture map.
    Done!
