Shadow/highlight – is Colourista2 good replacement?
Posted by Al James on January 17, 2015 at 2:48 amI’m aware of the flickering bug within the premiere cc ‘shadow/highlight’ effect. Am I right in saying the shadow and highlight recovery feature at the side of the three colour wheels of Reg Giants Colourista2 provides exactly the same function?

January 17, 2015 at 1:13 pmI found this link that I am guessing describes what you feel is the bug:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9tuRHdSOe8However, that was published in July of 2014 and I just tried it on Premiere Pro 8.2 (latest version) with a long clip and cannot find any discoloration or distortion though I am going through the clip frame by frame. Why don’t you update to the latest and let us know if you encounter it again.

January 17, 2015 at 6:21 pmHi Dennis, thanks for getting back to me.
I am using the very latest update from cloud, 8.2.0 (65) build. And the problem very much still exits. https://youtu.be/dPBPZ9x4wIY
It’s quite annoying as the effect appeal is superb, just when you play the footage it’s awful. flickers like cray on some shots.
Is there an alternative effect out there that I can buy that will do same job as shadow/highlight?

August 17, 2015 at 1:17 amI’ve produced a post comparing various shadow/highlight methods and alternatives:
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/968995Summary: Adobe please, please fix this, there isn’t a direct alternative, even from 3rd-party vendors.
