  shadowed areas with grain, is it normal?

  Hello,
  I notice, that low light areas are grainy. I shoot with sony bvw d600p. Is it normal for underexposed areas to get grainy? Is there any settings in camcorder to deal with this problem? Camcorder is at its default settings.
