I am looking to create a plane in cinema that receives shadows, but is not visibly seen by the camera (other than the shadows it’s receiving. When I use a compositing tag and shut off seen by camera, but leave receive shadows, none of it is seen by the camera. Can anyone recommend how I can make a “shadow only” layer in C4D. Thanks!

there is an ancient coffee plugin called ShadowCatcher by Matt Savard, that still works even in 14 apparently, that does what you are looking for I think. The only place I know that has it still is https://www.grafxflow.co.uk/tutorials-and-tips/cinema-4d/shadow-catcher-plugin-in-cinema-4d/ which also has a tutorial which is a bit old now but still valid though it isn’t necessary to follow it to the end for you want.

Thank you sir!. That’s a cool solution that I’ve never heard of. Works pretty well.
