Several questions
Posted by Ethan Lu on January 11, 2013 at 4:21 amHello all!
So, today I have a few questions
1. How would you make a futuristic zoom. As in like, movies, where a camera can zoom into something with all these random lines in a circle?
2. Where I can I get stock sound effects, such as typing.
3. Related to question #2, how to I make text fade in letter by letter?
4. how would I make a still image like this? at around 2;25 (around 3:25 or the thumbnail
Thanks in advance!John Rofrano replied 13 years, 4 months ago 5 Members · 8 Replies -

January 11, 2013 at 5:44 amYou’re asking way too many questions for a quick answer, but to get a “camera” perspective, you need Adobe Aftereffects.
I get most of my sound effects at Digital Juice.
There are several ways to blur one letter at a time, but they all use keyframes. Read about keyframes in the manual.
I’m not sure what your last question is describing. But it looks like the background track s simply blurred.

Use the Radial Blur FX.

Use the ProType Titler and animate Layout | Selection over time. You can also use Flash video. I show you how to Make Flash Titles with SWISHMax on my web site. You can also keyframe the Sony Titles and Text generated media by typing a letter, move down the animation timeline and make a keyframe and type the next letter, move down the animation timeline again and make a keyframe and type the next letter, etc.
[Ethan Lu] “4. how would I make a still image like this? “
I agree with Steve, it looks like a title with a blurred background. Use the Gaussian Blur for that one.

It sounds like something you would do in After Effects or a 3D modeling program like Cinema 4D, Maya, 3D Studio Max, etc. Without seeing an example it would be hard to say.

January 12, 2013 at 4:40 pmEthan I saw the graphics around the T/C you mentioned in your first post. That is indeed very fine and creative work. It would be possible in VP, but you’d need to spend much time getting to what you wanted.
Do you have any Graphics or advanced Compositing Packages?

January 12, 2013 at 9:43 pmUmm, no; do you have any recommendations? Also, how would you crop out an entire sections of an image using pan/crop/track motion or do I have to use masking??

Adobe After Effects is the program most editors would turn to on Windows for advanced compositing.
[Ethan Lu] “Also, how would you crop out an entire sections of an image using pan/crop/track motion or do I have to use masking??”
I would use Pan/Crop if I were cropping out a rectangular section or panning in or out to enlarge or reduce a rectangular section. I would use Track Motion to move a track across the screen or make a picture-in-picture effect. I would use a Mask for any other type of selection removal, especially for irregular shapes.
