  Setup advice for attaching digital monitors..

  Hi guys,

  I was hoping you could advise me on my proposed setup for using a pair of Roland DS-5 active monitors with my Decklink Pro card?

  I am planning to connect these via SP/DIF direct to the Decklink card, for use mainly with Audition/After Effects/Premiere/Encore. However I was wondering if the Rolands could be used to output my computer’s standard audio aswell? (Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Windows warning sounds, internet, etc? Or do I need my PC speakers connected to the audio out of my main sound card aswell as the Rolands? (I have very little space to have both pairs on my desk!)

  Also, will I need to connect my Roland’s via a mixer or are they ok just going straight into the DL? How would I control the volume of the speakers..via my PC’s audio control panel?
