is there a way to make fcp always pan both mono channels of a clip to -1 and +1 respectivingly? In other words I don’t want to have to manually set each channel to -1 or 1.

I am exporting to tape via matrox mxo2. and i am editing xdcam ex footage from a ex3 with fcp 6.

Make sure you’ve got it set to capture stereo in your capture prefs or in log and transfer. In the audio area, click the little infinity symbol which joins the audio.

You may also be able to change them in the bin all at the same time. Have that column open, select all the clips and right click on the audio format. Some of these type of features were broken years ago, like many features, and apple simply doesn’t fix them.

You can also highlight clips in tl and press option L to toggle between stereo and mono.

so if i can get each clips to be imported in stereo each channel will be set to pan either left of right rather then to zero?

if thats the case i will need to look my options in xdcam transfer since i don’t use fcp’s log and transfer.
