  • Settings for Projects and Rendering to Avoid “Lines”

    Hey All…

I have completed a video and wanted to burn it to DVD but the video has “lines” through it. I have my project settings currently at:

    Field: Lower
    Rendering Quality: Best
    Blur Type: Gaussian
    DeInterlace Method: None

    Rendering settings:

    Save as type: MainConcept MPEG-2
    Template: Default Template

Are these the best settings for viewing the film later on a DVD/television? I know that TV is definately lower field first but I was wondering if there were something I was forgetting or a setting I had incorrect? Any help to avoid the “lines” through the video would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help you could offer,

    Paco

    Hi Paco,
Can you give a little bit better description other than lines? I’m just trying to understand, are they thick, thin (a pixel size or interlace) just at the bottom, all over, intermittent.. or what?

    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi, Brian.

The lines usually occur where movement happens on the screen and these lines go through the entire moving object/person and are very noticable around the moving object’s edges…I have read up on a few forums and am pretty sure that this is from the interlacing of the video but not exactly sure how to correct it. I have tried a few different combinations of settings but still no avail…

These are probably interlace lines. If your final media is due to be watched on TV (interlaced) you might try going ahead and burning a DVD and see what it looks like played back on the TV.

I did. It looks as bad as on my computer. Isn’t there a way to get a video to look good on a TV AND computer? They do it with DVDs all the time…

Try changing the MPEG2 template – the Default Template is not recommended, despite its name – try a DVDA template.

You could also try Reduce Interlace flicker.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try to see if it works.

Check the waveform monitor and see if your signal is below 0 IRE.
