  • Settings for Mpeg-4 in HD?

Posted by Per Rönnecke on December 3, 2007 at 12:00 am

Hi! I will play a Mpeg-4 file in 1920×1080 25 fps on a PixelMagic Mediabox HD. What is the best settings for the compression to get a good result?

The master file is 1440×1080 Apple Pro Res 422!

    Thanks!

How do you plan on using the Pixelmagic box, i.e. delivering to it over a network, or via an attached hard drive etc..

AFAIK the box will only handle upto 1280×720 with MPEG-4. If you want 1920×1080 you’ll have to use MPEG-2 at around 28Mb/s. Obviously the box will upscale 720p to 1080p if you want it to.

Thanks, Danny! If I use Mpeg-2, does it need to have the audio muxed or can it take separate files?
