    Hello,

    I’ve been asked to compress a video file for Pointroll submission to something less than 5mb. They have also asked to provide a version at approximately 1.1mb or less. I know, right?

    The original file settings are at the bottom of this post. Pointroll requirements are also there. I’ve tried changing bitrate, size, framerate, etc. but can’t seem to get the file size down to the required sizes. Can anyone tell me where I should be focusing on or the best way to get the compression I need with minimum loss of quality as possible?

    Thanks!

    Video File Submission Guidelines for Encoding
    This document is to be used as a reference guide to ensure that video files submitted to PointRoll for encoding will produce the best image quality and playback performance possible. Ultimately, the original video asset will dictate the encoded and delivered quality.

    Guidelines: Codecs, File Wrappers, Audio Settings and Bitrates
    Optimal video file format for encoding to Flash, HTML5 and Mobile formats:

    * Video Codec: H.264 (main profile/level 4.1 suggested but not required)
    * Video Bitrate: >5 mbps
    * Audio Codec: AAC
    * Audio Sample Rate: 44.100/48.000 kHz
    * Audio Bitrate: >128 kbps
    * File Wrapper: mp4, mov
    ============

    Any help you can provide would be awesome, thanks!

    Not sure if you transcribed the specs properly, but two points jump out:

    Video bitrate greater than five megabits per second

    Your 11.7MB, 30 second file has a bitrate of 3.12 Mbps. If there is a typo in the spec and it should read LESS THAN 5 Mbps, then you already meet the requirement. If the spec is written correctly (i.e. >5 Mbps), then you should maintain the original resolution and increase bitrate rather than looking for ways to further reduce file size.
