    Hi folks
I wondered if someone could explain the offset principle in “device controls”.

When “editing to video” a finished project, the bars started at 09:58:30:00 both on the timeline and the tape after recording as I expected, but the bars overran the 09:59:30:00 point by 6 frames so the clock and following prog. at 10:00:00:00 started 6 frames late.

I applied the “timecode generator” filter to the bars clip and played it out to tape to discover that it recorded the first frame (from the timeline) over 6 frames (on the tape), then began – thus causing a 6 frame freeze at the start.

By applying a 6 frame offset in the device control tab I corrected this and it played out fine – but why?! I expected the offset to cause the recording to begin at a different point on the tape (by 6 frames) from the set in point. What’s with the freeze frames?

If anyone could help me understand whats happening I’d be grateful.
    Thanks.
