so since I’ve left my staff job I need to set a system up at home to edit video and create Dvs and DVDs. I have the latest FCP software and Mac OS. in terms of equipment, what recommendations can those with professional systems at home pass on?

    thanks so much.

What kind of footage will you be working with? DV only? Then a G5, good LCD monitor, NTSC monitor for color correction, DVCAM Deck, G-Raid FW-800 hard drives.

BetaSP, Digibeta, any other analoge format…gonna need a capture card like the Decklink series or AJA series, and an external SATA array, and decks, or course.

    HD…are you even going here?

[Shane Ross] “G-Raid FW-800 hard drives.”

    Hi,

SATA is more reliable and costs about the same (external) or less (internal).

    Best Wishes,

right now I’m DV only. but having built a reputation in HD, I can see that coming down the line, I guess I’ll need one of those cards eventually, but will get the hottest one when the time comes. of course, i don’t have an HD deck, soooo…. I’ll just set up for DV for now.

    thanks for the input.
