setting up my system for FCP5 usage
Dear all,
I am currently starting studying Final Cut Pro 5 and in the process of buying an external hard drive to have more room for my future projects.
At first, I thought about moving all my ‘archived’ material (photos, music files – e.g. files i don’t access often) to the external hard drive, while keeping the system and the fcp5 files on the internal sata drive of my power mac g5.
But a collegue of mine is arguing that it’d be better to put the fcp (or shake, or maya or whatever program’s, actually) projects on the external hard drive, leaving the internal one for system operation and swapping.
But then I think: what am I going to do with the 250gb of the internal drive if I only have mac os x and the applications on it? it’ll be 3/4 empty most of the time..
What would your approach be, given this scenario? (internal sata 250gb hd, external sata 400gb hd).

The Saint eh?
The Final Cut Pro application goes on the system drive, in the applications folder. The Final Cut Pro project file whould also live on the internal system drive.
All your captured media, audio and pictures should be on the external or SECONDARY internal drive. No media should be stored on the internal system drive.
