  • Setting up Final cut with Panasonic HD1200A and a JVC HD monitor

    Hi.

At work I’m having some serious trouble getting the monitor to work properly.

Working on Final cut pro 5.0.4
my easy setup on the mac is DVCPRO HD – 1080i50
We have a Blackmagic design Decklink HD card and a Multibridge utility installed.

The Deck is a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A
and the monitor is JVC DT-V1710CGU HD monitor.

When having chosen the DVCPRO HD – 1080i50 easy setup on the mac I get a picture showing on the monitor. The problem is that it seems that there is a flickering or the picture jumps about every second. It could look like there’s a frequency problem, but if there would be it would have been showing more or less just lines and dots with different colours all over.

If I’m not viewing any film the monitor turns off after about a minute.

The deck is working properly and I can log and capture film perfectly.

The problem is when I want to view it from FCP and use the monitor as Video playback.
The sound is by the way perfect.

I don’t know if someone could help me, but if there is something more you guys need to know please let me know…

Not with the 1200a deck. the lag or jump in picture you are seeing is the normal with that deck when using FW as your recording and control protocols. ( same in 720 also) the Deck is not designed so that you can monitor in realtime when editing over FW

you can search in the this and the Varicam forum for 1200a FW issues and get a few hundred posts.

Hi there.. thanks… I tried searching for HD 1200 but I guess I was patient enough…

I’ve figured out a way to go around it and it works perfectly, but I need to change cables, which is a *****.. But hey.. it works..

    Thanks again
