Setting up Editing Suite
Hi All! We need help!
We are a new music broadband tv channel, and we are working on setting up a good but basic editing suite for our content. I need your advice on what software and equipment we need to get. We need one good editing computer with all the software necessary to kick ass.I was thinking about a Desktop Apple (which one?) with powerful memory and speed, plus a terabyte, and final cut pro. Can you please help me with names, models and software/hardware you suggest for starting off? We want it to look professional, but we only have about $4,000 – 5$,000 to spend (or possibly more if its absolutely necessary).
I know this is an open-ended question, but we need your help!!!

If you’re creating content for distribution via web, I daresay DV will be more than sufficient a format, so just about any off the shelf Mac Pro will do the job for you. Software, get FCP Studio, and that will be enough for just about anything you need to do.
Obviously, the more you can afford to spend on putting more grunt into your Mac (RAM, faster CPU etc) the better off you’ll be.
