We just picked up the shiny new 8 core, and it’s time to set it up so I can use compressor to take advantage of all those cores. Anybody know of a link on how to set up the virtual cluster needed to do this? Also is there anything I should do to optimize final cut or motion to run on this machine? Thanks.

Barefeats ran some tests that you may find useful in this regard

You’ll find nothing in the manual about “virtual cluster”.

What throws people is that the term “virtual cluster” is not an Apple term and does not show up in any literature. “Quick Cluster” is the more accurate term.

Search Compressor’s manual for quick cluster and you’ll see how easy it is.

    Best.
