  • Setting up an Io and control panel quits imediately

Posted by Rennie Klymyk on January 8, 2006 at 10:48 am

I’m trying to set up my new used Io. When it’s not connected to the computer the panel opens but when I connect it and re-boot and try to open the control panel it doesn’t open and I get a dialoge box saying “app ProIO ControlPanel quit unexpectedly after it was reopened”. If I open the control panel with the Io turned off it opens but crashes as soon as I turn on the Io and I get the same error message.

I de-instaled all the io drivers etc. and reinstalled and the same thing happens. I have the firewire extention going from the back of the g5 to the 23″ monitor (even tried disconnecting that) but other wise nothing is hooked to the firewire bus.

Drivers I downloaded are ver. 2.1 and the control panel is ver.1.1

The io when powered on displays the power LED, the NTSC LED and the SDI LED’s for both video and audio. These are the only LED’s to light up on the Io even though nothing is connected or powered on to the unit other than the firewire to the g5.

    Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks Bob but you’re scaring me now. I was hoping it was something simple I was overlooking but this sounds serious! I’ll take your advice and call AJA tomorrow.
    All the best!

Thanks again for the advice Bob. These guys stick to it till the end! I kept expecting to hear “well, you’ll have to send the device in” But at every dead end they perservered and after about 1 1/2 hr on the phone I’m up and running. And not one sour tone from them the whole time. Just polite relentless assistance! WOW!

They’ve got a great team up there at AJA. They are truly at the top of the list when it comes to friendly, helpful and accessible tech-support. If any of you are ever at MacWorld, NAB or any of the big Apple/Video oriented trade shows, or user group meetings, stop by and say “hi” to John, Nick, Ted, Rudy and the gang and let them know how much you appreciate the way they support their products (you might even get lucky and get a nice bottle of their favorite “special” vodka for your trouble).

    Tony!

So what was the problem in the end?
Might save the guys a AJA another 1 1/2 hrs on the phone with someone.
