Setting up 3 displays
Hi,
I am trying to set up 3 displays the include 2 Computer LCD screens connected with DVI and an LCD TV screen connected with HDMI. I have 2 cards one is Nvidia and one ATI the problem is that I need both the main display and the TV to be connected to the same card and I need the TV to be defined as the 2nd display, that’s because FCP only puts the Preview full screen on the 2nd or 1st display and only on the same card as the main.
The problem is that the computer automatically defines the TV as the 3rd display or the first one if it is on the same card as the main screen.
Anyone knows how to fix that?Thank you,

Hi Inbal,
Out of buying a video-card with HDMI, there is a cheap resource, but you will need to sacrifice a bit the quality of one of the two computers monitor.
Is an USB to DVI connector.
You can use it with one of the two LCDs. For the other LCD and the HDMI you use the two DVI’s of the computer. One with a DVI to HDMI.

[Inbal Elazari] ” I have 2 cards one is Nvidia and one ATI” That cannot be a good thing. FCP and Color are not fans of 2 graphic cards let alone 2 difference makes and drivers.
I would get a real video card or box to hook up the LCD via HDMI, they start at $300 and everything will run and look better. You would want to remove one of the graphic cards also.

FCP7 has solved the multiple card/display issue. I am running nvidia 7300 for one display and ATI Radeon 4870 for another. (I would use the ATI for both but I do not have the adapter for the miniature LED display port).
I tested the setup with four displays driven by three cards. No problems with FCP or Motion.
Motion doesn’t seem to care how many cards displays as you can throw at it. I’ve got enough to drive 8 30″ Apple Cinemas.The Apple app that will break your 3-display configuration is Aperture.
