  • Setting Tiff/JPEG Still Images Duration to 1 Frame

Posted by Joe Taylor on January 7, 2010 at 2:57 am

    Hello All,

I’m trying to import a sequence of still images that have been converted to TIFF frames (250 stills) and would like to import them in a batch setting were each image has the duration of one frame. I had no problem doing this when using FCP 5, but now that I am using FCP 6, all my images are 10 sec.

IS there a way to automatically set FCP 6 so that when importing still images the set duration can be just 1 frame (or any length for that matter)?

    Thanks

I believe it is the system settings where you can define this — might be user prefs though. Look for still frame duration and set to your duration. Generally when I’ve worked with image sequences, I open them in quicktime and then import that into final cut. I guess it depends on what you’re doing in edit though.

    Good times.

User Preferences>Editing. Set the Still Import/Freeze Frame preference at the top to one frame.

If you really have an image sequence that you want to make into a movie you might try using the QT player File>Open Image Sequence, set the frame rate and then export to whatever video codec you need.

    All the best,

    Tom
