  • Setting subtitle track in DVDA 4

I’m a newbie, and coming from DVD Workshop I’m having difficulty getting subtitles to work in DVDA 4. I’ve created two subtitle tracks in my video file, created a subtitle menu, and placed buttons on it to select a specific subtitle track. For one button I’ve chosen track “1” from the “Set subtitle track” combo-box in the “Action” property. For the other button I’ve chosen track “2.” However, when I preview the menu, and click on a button to select a subtitle, the “Subtitle Track” indicator goes from “none” to blank. I figure I must be missing some simple setting, but I’ve read and re-read the manual, and spent a couple hours trying different permutations, to no avail. I’m getting frustrated, and would appreciate any enlightenment you experienced users can give me.

    Destination: Setup
    Destination item: Start
Destination button: 4: Link – Video File

The destination essentially is the “Play Movie” button on my menu. By setting the destination button to the video itself, rather than a link, I’ve been able to succesfully create a Setup menu in which there’s a button for “Play Movie with English Subtitles” and one for “Play Movie with Polish Subtitles.” However, that’s not what I want.

What I’m going for is a traditional Setup menu, like you see in commercial DVD’s. In other words, a Setup menu that allows you to go to a Scene Selection menu before playing the movie.

In such a menu, there’s also an icon next to your choice: English Subtitles, Polish Subtitles, or No Subtitles. I’m able to do this in DVD Workshop by cloning the Setup menu adding an icon to the desired position next to the button in the cloned menu, and dragging a subtitle selection item into the playlist window for the button.

In DVDA 4, I can’t figure out how to clone a menu… or if there’s another way of accomplishing the same thing. And, of course, I can’t figure out how to leave open the Scene Selection option after choosing a subtitle. Your help is appreciated.
