In AE, my Photoshop files appear as”Preview” icons. This poses a problem when I want to edit a file from AE, as it opens as a Preview file. How do I change my computer settings to make Photoshop the default? I use a MAC G5. Thank you.

This is a good question. I think it has more to do with OS and the default program for opening up a photo. For PSD, mine will open in PS, but for a jpg, it opens up with the preview. For now, what I’ve been doing is right clicking and “show in finder,” right click on that picture and “open with PS.” I would love to change all to PS.

I don’t have an answer, but maybe someone here does……

In finder select your psd file right click and select “Get Info”. Under the “Open With:” pane select Photoshop in the drop down.

If you want all psd’s to open in Photoshop simply click the “Change All…” button in the same pane.

That does work and defaults to my newer CS 4 Photoshop. But how can I change or set the default to go to an older version of CS Photoshop. I have CS 4 but would like to have my default photoshop open in CS 1. Not liking the newer CS 4 Version changes.
