  setting keyframes from a script

  I have a bunch of text fields being loaded from a .CSV file which also generates the in and out times of the text fields (placement). how could i go about scripting a fade in and fade out into that script??
  I would need it to do something like placing keys for opacity 12 frames befor out point at 100%
  and a keyframe at out point at 0% and same for fade in etc…..basically i dont know what commands to call up in the script……any help would be greatfully appreciated
