  • Setting in FCP for multiple projector work

    Hey All,

I have a specific concept in mind for a video and am not sure the best way to achieve it. I’m working with two 4:3 projectors, and the screens are high on the wall, one on each side of the space for which I am creating the video. I want to create the video so that the talent shows up on one screen but not the other and can ‘walk’ back and forth.

I know that there is specific projector technology you need to have for this, but my question concerning FCP is if there are certain settings you must engage in order to help make this work.

    Thanks for your time.

That seems like it would be a Graphics Card setting and not a Final Cut Pro setting …

Because it sounds like you want your talent to be on one side of the screen and the the other side of the screen … walking across 2 projectors that display the screen split.

If you make your Final Cut project double-wide, there are two ways I can think of to achieve what you want:

    1) use a Matrox TripleHead2Go (https://https://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/) to split your video across two projectors

    2) Install Renewed Vision’s Pro Video Player (PVP) (https://www.renewedvision.com/pvp.php) on two Mac’s (one for each projector). Copy the double-wide video to each Mac. Configure PVP on each machine to play the opposite half, configure one PVP as the master, the other as the slave. When you start playing the video on the master, it will sync-play the video on the slave.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try the second suggestion and see what happens.
